Do you ponder the point you think you are writing?
Well. I need to ponder that question…
Are these ponder points true?
Yes. I could not make up fiction this funny. I have changed names of individuals who I did not get a release signed. Janine, my wife, did not sign a release but we are married and she knew I was creative. I do not think I came with a warning label. I will have to ask my Mom about that one. My family also did not sign anything but they are funny. By default, I use the family. I do indicate when I change a business name due to the owners of the real business not willing to have their name in something that was meant for people to read in less than ten minutes. I guess it had something to do with the idea that they did not want the association of their business made or reduced to a bathroom read. Not sure. Plus in some cases, I did not want to pay a licensing fee. I changed the universe and any likeness to a real person or cafe is purely coincidental.
How long does it take you to write a ponderĀ point?
Good question. A collection of minutes. The game when I started this writing exercise was this: if something made me laugh I had five minutes to get it down on paper in a short story. Then I would push the send button. The first ponder points were rough. (I am talking strange grammar…creative letter placement ((i.e. misspelled words))…incomplete thoughts). When the email list continued growing, I kept to the initial five-minute writing rule, but I also started roughly editing.
Do you have a favorite?
That changes but right now my favorites are the first one written in Fargo and the Glazed Toddler written in Portland, Oregon. But then there is the experience in Hawaii.
Can you explain how the ponder points are numbered?
That is as mysterious as the Loch Ness Monster.
